Bodegas Atalaya is a new project within The Gil Family Group in D.O. Almansa. It is located in the east of Albacete Province among Valencia, Alicante and Murcia, in the transit zone between the Castilian Plateau and the Mediterranean Sea. The winery and the vineyards are placed 3 km in the North of Almansa at an altitude of 800 meters above the sea level. The soils consist mainly of limestone. The predominant grape varieties are Alicante Bouschet, a variety native to the area, and Monastrell, from which this new project builds its wines. The technical direction is provided by Australian-born wine maker, Frank Gonzales.
