Bodegs Luis Perez

It has 25 Hectares, a Country House and a Winepress dating from 1844, which has been restored. These facts account for the long viti-vinicultural tradition of the property.

The soil of the vineyards lies on marl (marga), that is argillaceous (arcilloso), calcareous(calcáreo), with Gypsum (contiene yeso) and 30% of limestone (caliza). This soil is unique in the area of the Sherry wine and therefore impregnates the wines with marked and excellent mineral touches, which is revealed in its outstanding “Terroir”, positioning it at the singular and expressive level of the most prestigious vitivinicultural areas in the world.

The wineyard covers an area of 14 hectares and it is located at the plot of land named
“Pago del Corchuelo”, in the heart of the Sherry area, over the hill with the same name. Its amazing altitude views over the countryside of Jerez and some areas of the Coast, which allow maritime winds, reaching in this way a special microclimate.

The Grape Varieties (Syrah, Petit verdot, Merlot, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon) and their patterns have been strategically chosen. The methods to drive the wine-growing are carried out under an integrated system, which tends to ecological preservation and control of the production, with the minimun but wise human intervention. All this effort is directed to produce high quality Signature Wines (Author Wines)

Garum, Samaruco and Petit Verdot are produced at the vineyard

Having the suitable location, intervention should not take place unless there is any excess or shortage, which would need to be corrected. We do not support green pruning or systematic thinning of bunches. The grape varieties, i.e., Syrah, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tintilla, as well as the models and methods of conduction have been carefully chosen to develop low-production viticulture. Even so, our work in the vineyard is thorough since we understand quality wines depend on the grape.

The soil: a winery identity

It is a well-known fact that a winery personality will be strongly affected not only by the particular microclimate in a given vineyard but also by the components of the soil. When producing signature wines, it is essential for the vines to express their surroundings since there are no two identical pieces of land. Ours is made up by gypsiferous calcareous clayish marl soil having a 30% of limestone. This unique mixture, only to be found in Pago del Corchuelo, impregnates excellent minerality to our wines. The microclimate is influenced to a great extent by the location of Vistahermosa Hacienda, which is on one of the highest points in the area and 13km off the coast. Sea winds moderate the temperature and therefore the vineyards are much less affected by any possible disease.
